Blueberry Burgers
"The beauty of this hamburger is that it calls for self-expression. I got this recipe from my friend Jay, who is a contemporary art collector, so he is willing to take a few chances with tradition!!! I love his art and his recipes. I think you will, too."

Ingredients
- 2 lbs freshly ground beef (chuck) Substitute any lean beef such as ground round or ground sirloin or even turkey
- 1 tsp Jane's Crazy Salt or salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp Spice Island "Hamburger Seasoning"
- 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 Tbsp dried minced onion (a bit more if fresh)
- 1 Tbsp dried parsley flakes (a bit more if fresh)
- 1/4 cup milk (non-fat)
- 3/4 cup blueberries
Preparation
- Place ground meat in a large bowl and gently break it up. Add all ingredients except blueberries. When incorporating the seasonings and milk, fold in gently with fingers.
- Add the blueberries, being careful not to mash or break the berries.
- Divide the meat into 8 burgers. When forming the patties, it is very important not to over-handle or press the meat...the less shaping and molding, the juicier the burger.
- Place the burgers on a hot charcoal grill. Never use the spatula to flatten the patties during the cooking and only flip them once. The grill flame should never touch the meat.
